The Story Mint is a vibrant and inspirational community of writers who celebrate one another's successes.

Excuse us if we are just a little bit excited at The Story Mint. You will be too when you hear about one of the amazing presenters we've got lined up for you at Breaking the Code: from published to best-selling author.

Writing Believable Dialogue
We are thrilled that writer/director/performer, Noel Anderson, has agreed to share his unique perspective and wide experience with us. Noel started acting as a teenager (he once was the stand-in for Hollywood film star William Holden, star of the classic ‘Sunset Boulevard’). Noel completed NIDA’s Playwright Studio in 1996 and studied directing/acting at the Gate Theatre (London) and Stella Adler (New York). His written works are numerous and have played to sell out audiences across Australia. In 2008, his short play Pulling Out won ‘best writing and best production’ Pink Shorts (Gasworks, Melbourne) and in 2012 his work featured in ‘Love Letters’ at the Melbourne Arts Centre. Noel has directed over 50 theatre productions, films, TV serials and music videos. He is a member of Melbourne Writer’s Social Group and his short story ‘Unfinished Symphony’ is featured in MWSG Anthology 2017

"I’m not the best swimmer but I’m very good at floating. I guess that’s why I’m still involved in the arts years on, because I’m very good at floating!"

It's been a busy month for our Serial writers. We've published new chapters  for the following serials:
The Beauty Contest
Nestor, Esther and Lester;
and The Girl in the Attic.

We've also started a new single author serial Forgiven by Ray Stone. Here's a taster ...

The rain had stopped at dusk, washing the pavement, leaving patches of rainbow water where oil caked the pavement by traffic lights. Paper wrappers, plastic cups, empty garish card boxes depicting the contents were ‘Finger Lickin Good,’ overflowed from the sidewalk trash cans along Main Avenue. Nestling comfortably among the Pines, the town was as I remembered. A shopping mall surrounded by restaurants, bars, and banks dominated the center while suburbia spread out either side along the freeway. I had left the ferry at Bremerton and pulled into a motel and restaurant on the outskirts. I could see to things the following morning. That could wait - I couldn’t.

Production on the second anthology of serials is in full swing and we have a cover, beautifully designed by Jasmine Grove, one of our multi talented writers.

And finally, we're looking for some new starters for Serials so if you have an idea, grab some quiet time, write it down (500 words max remember) and send it to Suraya at suraya@thestorymint.com

Who to send your starters and chapters to:
If you have a starter send it to: suraya@thestorymint.com
If you've written a chapter send it to donnamct@gmail.com
When Story Minters get together ...

At The Story Mint we work with writers from all over the world and most of  our communication is via email or Skype. That doesn't stop friendships developing and we absolutely love to hear about our writers meeting up, like this recent meeting with Hemali Ajmera Shah from Ahmedabad, India and Raymond Stone at his home in Cyprus.

Here's what Hemali says:

The Story Mint is a close-knit community where we interact with other authors virtually and get to know them through their work.

I have been a huge fan of Ray' Stone's work since I joined The Story Mint. He is one of the senior authors at The Story Mint and has a wonderful body of writing to his name. He always came across as a very forthright person through his comments posted at the end of my chapters. So when I was visiting Cyprus last month on business, I was both excited and apprehensive.

But meeting Ray in person was a totally different experience to the one I had had with him online. He is a very warm and welcoming person. We had so much to talk about and so much to share. We talked about the latest trends in publishing, the literary scene in India and our individual experiences with The Story Mint. He also shared some valuable writing tips with me.

I would have definitely regretted it if I had left Cyprus without meeting Ray.
